Christmas soup campaign in Lithuania brings warmth on cold nights

Hundreds of volunteers out in full force

As the year draws to a close and the nights draw in, the Order of Malta volunteer groups across Lithuania work in 30 towns and 6 government ministeries on their annual Christmas campaign to bring hot soup to the old, the frail, the poor. The campaign concludes on 6 January. Donations to date: 155,000E – a large sum for a small country – and still counting. Mission

The mission of the Order of Malta is inspired by its tradition of ‘Tuitio Fidei et Obsequium Pauperum', to assist the poor and the sick, and bear witness to the Christian faith.

Government

The Sovereign Order of Malta is a sovereign subject of international law. The Order - which is based in Rome, in via Condotti - has its own Government, an independent magistracy, and bilateral diplomatic relations with 110 countries.
