Summer Soup Kitchens
Many soup kitchens are forced to close over the summer because of a lack of volunteers but the Companion’s activities in London have continued, providing much needed food and support to the city’s homeless and vulnerable. The soup kitchens on Mondays and Thursdays at Spanish Place have been providing delicious, homemade, hot food and chats and sometimes there is even some entertainment from a musical volunteer. Numbers have been increasing but guests are still seated at socially distanced tables and asked for details for Track & Trace by volunteers on the door.
On Tuesdays guests will find hot food, drinks and companionship at the Companion’s Cafe in East Hill, Wandsworth and on Wednesday mornings our amazingly dedicated volunteers get up at the crack of dawn in order to provide a cooked breakfast for guests, as well as a chance to have a shower and read the morning’s papers. Whilst the weather is nice guests are being served in the public garden in Golden Square.
