Christmas Round Up
We’re very proud of the extra work that our volunteers put in over the Christmas period to spread Christmas cheer amongst all of those in need.
Here is a summary of all the many packs, parcels and presents that we made, wrapped, packed and delivered.
For the Homeless: 18,685 items packed up and sent to 21 different Companion co-ordinators throughout England and Scotland. Just over 800 different parcels made up of new items such as sweatshirts, joggers, thermal underwear, socks, toiletries, masks, handmade scarves, handmade blankets, hand warmers, hand sanitiser and good quality second hand coats.
For the Elderly: Wreaths and Quality Street sent to 76 different Care Homes for the staff and residents. 2,700 Care Home residents received a CoM Christmas card. 127 individual poinsettias & cards to the residents in the London care homes. 70 mini Christmas Trees for the Royal Hospital Chelsea and other care homes in the London area.
In addition we were able to distribute a specially recorded Christmas celebration of readings and music to the Care Homes. Whilst the Nehemiah Project received one of the Companion wreaths and 3 boxes of Quality Street.
A huge thank you to our incredible volunteers – Companions, Members of the Order, Young Companions and other helpers who have given so much time to make this possible. Also thank you to the wonderful organisations without whom we wouldn’t be able to give away such fabulous gifts; Queen Mother’s Clothing Guild, Primark Wrapup, The Hygiene Bank and Stand4 Socks.
